The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill will pave the way for a new generation of strategic authorities, filling out the map for full regional governance across England. But how can we set up these institutions for success? And what role should they play in driving inclusive growth and reforming public services?
In a new FGF report, published in partnership with Metro Dynamics and funded by London Councils, we argue that strategic authorities are not just institutions in their own right, but stewards of the regional system – setting a clear regional direction, working in partnership with local authorities, and mobilising partners and resources to deliver.
To mark the report’s launch, we’re bringing together an expert panel to discuss how strategic authorities should be strengthened as England enters a new phase of devolution.
Join us for a lunchtime webinar on Thursday 29 January, featuring:
- Yolande Burgess, Strategy Director: Communities & Public Service Reform, London Councils
- Mark Rogers, Interim Chief Officer, Sussex and Brighton County Combined Authority
- Tom Walker, Interim Chief Officer, Greater Essex Combined Authority
- Hamida Ali, Head of Learning and Practice, The Future Governance Forum
- Ben Lucas, Founding Director and Managing Director, Metro Dynamics (Chair)
