The Future of Asylum – A vision for renewal

The Future of Asylum – A vision for renewal considers how the government can reform and renew the asylum system. This essay collection features leading progressive voices and sets out bold ideas for the future of the asylum system to radically reform the system and regain public trust. With the foreword by Lord Dubs and contributions from Hope Not Hate CEO Nick Lowles and Ben Goldsborough MP, the fourteen essays in the collection range from the importance of contribution to the case for the ‘renewal’ of the Refugee Convention.

FGF’s ‘Future of Asylum’ project is seeking answers to the question: in today’s world, how can the UK deliver an asylum system that works effectively, is consistent with international law, and sustains public confidence? We are exploring new ideas for the reform and renewal of asylum in an age characterised by large-scale mixed migration, global instability and rising populism.

The Future of Asylum – A vision for renewal is the second report in FGF’s ‘Future of Asylum’ project. The first report, Asylum Management Centres: A new approach to tackle small boat crossings called on government to set up new ‘Asylum Management Centres’ in France to divert asylum seekers from irregular entry into the UK.
